Topic Discussion 4 - Internet as a truth? Maybe.

Do you often take what is on the Internet as truth without thinking much about it? Maybe. Well it's depends. Yeah the internet can be use for anybody and anybody can pretty use it. So yeah maybe some of the information can be manipulated but I think that the Wikipedia can be trusted, with accuracy of the information is 90% true. Come on, think again. If the internet can't be trusted, isn't book, TV and radio can be same? The only reason why I can believe some of the internet information is that it is free from control of company. You may heard from the newspaper, we can check in the internet is it true or not because if the event really occurred then there must be witnesses. Then the witnesses write it up in their blog or what so ever and put picture of that event. Well even so we have picture to back up our information that we found, we can't completely believe what do we see. With current technology such as Photoshop, picture can be edited and manipulated they way you want with realistic picture. So yeah, eyes can fool you. To believe the Internet or not, that have to depend on your experience and don't just simply believe everything. Good judgment is a need.

TOPIC DISCUSSION 4 - INTERNET

Internet , One of the nation priority apart from television , radio, and other broadcast media. Use to spread all kind of information It been use by all level of society. There is almost everything that u able to get via internet, Within this information, their are several info that not appropriate to public.
As me, my answer is NO, i will not fall for it! All the thing that i collect from internet must be authoritative. Many spamming that happen on internet. Internet user must always take awareness to this situation. Their are a page that are reliable for better information such as EMERALD ( http://www.emeraldinsight.com/Insight/menuNavigation.do?hdAction=InsightHome ) . All information that be given here a in good source. Beside that, over 50% of the internet content leads to crime . Some of the social media user has been violated. This crimes issue have been release via newspapers and everybody know it. All kind of crimes have been discover because of internet usage such as muder, rapes, and others violent act.

TOPIC DISCUSSION 4 - INTERNET = TRUTH??

Do i offen take what is on the internet as truth without thinking much about it?
the answer is no, most of the info in the internet were writen by the user or fan not the
owner.
example Alexander Grahambell who are the one who make the first phone,
did he write the info of his phone on the website??
although it was in wikipedia is a world wide encyclopedia, it not

100% true because some of it were written by a fan or a normal consumer like me
who wrote it without a much research and just want to share with other people
in my opinion, i will search more article from the other source
about it and make my own decision to believe or not to believe

Topic Discussion 4: Do you often take what is on the Internet as truth without thinking much about it?

In my opinion, I would rather say no. Reasons?
Nowadays, news can be spread fast and far easily like wildfire. Plus with the advance of technology in media we have today, just one click via internet and the news can be spread through-out the world by few seconds. Its hard to know which is false and truth about news, article and etc on the internet since it could be from anyone and from anywhere. Sometimes, people wrote an article does not leave his/her name and left it as anonymous which is rather mysterious and hard for the reader to believe. Even so, articles which are not posted on an official site eventhou the writer leave a name, I would still try not to believe it. Unless if an article came from an official news site, it would be a different story.

Discussion 4: Internet's Believing

How often I took what is on the internet as truth without thinking much about it?...my answer is none. The reason why I say none, because internet can come from anywhere. Every source that from internet can be added by everyone. The easiest example that we can get is from social media like facebook. Trough social media like facebook people can spread any news whether is the truth or even a fake news.

Not only that, on the internet, people can published false statement that damages a person’s reputation. By spreading the false statement it can make people confused or dissatisfaction about something that they don’t get it. People can twist the story or even they make up the story. I’ve read one article that internet can make people in fight with each other because of the make up story.

To me what is on the internet its our self conscious to believe or ignore what is on the internet is whether true or not. For me, the best way is wait till I read the newspaper, than I will believe the news that come from newspaper.

Topic Discussion 4 - The Truth and Lies In The Internet

Nowadays, internet is used almost by everyone. People use it to gain information, for their entertainment and much much more. The internet can be used by anyone so there are alot of things posted or stated in the internet. People will tend to believe and take what is on the internet as the truth without thinking much about it. For me, i don't tend to believe anything stated in the internet because we can't be sure where the source is from. Nowadays, even a 1 year old kid or a crazy old person can use the internet and they can say and manipulate people or spread rumors just by using the internet. There are even imposters and stalkers in the internet world and they can hack or change any information stated in the web. This can also be very dangerous because there is this one case i read in the newspaper where there is this sex offender using the facebook to lure a girl and raped and killed her.

We must be very carefull of what we read and rather to belive it or not because not everything in the web is true and can be harmfull.

Topic Discussion 3: Irish Stereotypes

First of all, what is stereotypes?
Stereotype is a commonly held public belief about specific social groups, or types of individuals. The concepts of "stereotype" and "prejudice" are often confused with many other different meanings. Stereotypes are standardized and simplified conceptions of groups, based on some prior assumptions. Generally speaking, these "stereotypes" are not based on objective truth, but rather subjective and often unverifiable content-matter.

I've seen few of stereotypes movies, mostly about Arabs and American. But upon doing the research about stereotypes, I found about Irish stereotypes which I never realize in details before. So I did a research about it and I found that there's Irish stereotypes in American famous series cartoon; The Simpsons.

Weirdly, I've been watching The Simpsons ever since I was a kid and still watching till today. But, I never realize that there's a stereotype(Irish stereotypes) used in the cartoon.

What's Irish Stereotypes are about?
Irish stereotypes are pictured as a ruddy-haired alcoholics and abusers who love to fight, the typical Irish American cop, and the disgruntled Irishman at the bar. The Irish is labeled as quick-tempered brawlers and alcoholics. This is commonly used in the cartoon; The Simpsons. Not only that, it is used commonly in a lots of movies as well.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
History of Irish Stereotypes

Irish stereotypes began around 19th century..

During this time, many Irish immigrants came to the United States. Darwin's Theory of Evolution was a prevalent topic of the day. The struggle for labor between immigrants resulted in violence and discrimination

Back in the 19th century, many people viewed the Irish as an "other" or different race from other white people. 19th century cartoons portrayed the Irish as ape-like and racially primitive. Darwin's Theory of Evolution seemed to explain that the Irish were of a lower life form, not up to the par with the more intellectual white Americans. The Irish were seen as brash, hostile, angry -- all characteristics of a more primitive human form.

Around the same time, a labor struggle existed between Irish Americans and the freed African American slaves. The Irish clung to their occupations fiercely, blocking the attempts of newer immigrants or African Americans to enter them, and earning them a reputation for violence. After 1860, there were several Irish songs about employment advertisements reading, "Irish need not apply", which are now referred to as "the NINA signs." The songs had a deep impact on the Irish sense of discrimination.

TOPIC DISCUSSION 3: Stereotype- Asia Western

Stereotype. This one topic that has been issued for a long time. Stereotype is a make people belief about specific social groups, or types of individuals by labeling them with something. Media had a great role by spread this stereotype.

Example: I have watched one of the series of Family Guy. The video is about Japanese girl. Japan is one of the country that produce a lot of new technology. In this video show that technology make people live simple and tiny until everything that Japanese have are tiny including their body.

From the video shows that, Asian is have small type of body, regard to tiny technology that they produce to make life simple. Another one example is Christmas that held in Asia is different to the Western. This stereotype has been showed in one video that show that Christmas in Asia only have a Santa Claus that are cruel.

Media have greatest role that spread the stereotype around the world. Via media Westerner always labeled Asian with bad stereotype. To me, this stereotype make dissatisfaction of Asian to Westerner.

Topic Discussion 3 - Media Stereotypes

Media Stereotypes can influence and make us see and things differently. Most people uses this media stereotype the wrong way that manipulates and make some people offended or hurt them in a lot of ways.

For example :
This is a clip from one of the famous comedy show MadTV where they show how americans see asian people.

In this clip, the americans see all asians as look alike no matter if they are from japan, china or even malaysia.

In this clip, it shows that asians are annoying, stupid and slow. This might offend and hurt the all the asians races.

If this type of media stereotype continues, all of the young generations will only see asians this way and might jeopardize the asian race.

For example :

This clip shows how some american children see asians

TOPIC DISCUSSION 3 - ONE OF MEDIA STEREOTYPES

Attack on Pearl Harbor Japanese planes view.jpg
American Stereotype,Making the they always right and other are wrong, these stereotype are really misleading people and make people blind of the truth and disgrace the people they said was evil and bad, like the pearl harbor film which only show the part of the war that japan are trying to invade the pearl harbor and the japan lost disgracefully but they didn't show 2 atom bom that blow at the hiroshima and nagasaki which is more crueler and heartless attack

American film always show that the muslim are terrorist and bad manners like in cannonball run 2 (1981),Jewel of the nile (1985) and others american film.while doing these they show that the kristian the good person that gonna save the world from the evil muslim, but they are using more violent method then a peacefull method in all their film to solve their problem and for their own gain

(SYAFIZ AMIRUL BIN MUSLEH - 1091100342)

TOPIC 3, What Other Media Stereotypes ???

Asian steroetype. Making asian look bad in every aspect, Dragging this stereotype issue day to day and suddenly at some point it disgrace other races. This immediately invite dissatisfaction around people that are related to it.
For example:
In the series of Family Guy that i watched, they included an asian driver character, that she is very bad at driving vehicle.

it make asian people very shameful . It reflect the characteristic of asian people that are so not true.
This is another link that i think very disrespect on asian:

making asian look stupid and uneducated . This type of action toward others race, sometime is very annoying, making others look bad everytime.. let asian take the blame while they taking all the credits.

Topic Disccussion 3 - Rahimi

From your personal experiences and research, what other media stereotypes (besides the example from the documentary "Reel Bad Arabs") have you seen either on TV, magazines or in the movies?

Hahaha there's alot.
Example:
-How black and rapper labeled as gangster.

-That Asians is all Chinese. (Hey I'm a freaking Asians and I'm not Chinese, I can open my eyes wide!)

-That all American is fat. (But funny though, it possible with their diet over there)

-In Ad about 1 Malaysia, they always show these Indian suffering and got a Malay and Chinese help the Indian. (The messages is good but the way they sent it, is very stereotype)

-Of course the most common, Muslim seen as terrorist.

-How Muslim woman who wear scarf have social fun a bit an labeled as "the one who bring shame to Muslim" and those whose not wear scarf can do anything without people judging. (If we see women this way, didn't seem so stereotype?)

-How fairly fat women are found disgusting and ugly in magazine. (They maybe have extra fat, but they do know how to style themselves. They have feelings and sometime beautiful too. But I got to agree if they have too much fat until health risk, they need to do something. Goes the same for very to-the-bone-skinny)

-How unattractive, low confidence and shy nerd and been bullied just because they are nerd.(Definition of nerd. So why they always bullied? Aren't good to obsessed in nonsocial pursuit that bring good to them? To be fair, their not loner, there always group of nerds. So it's not that nonsocial.) :D

-How they say guy with no body hair is the true men. (For me guys that have body hair is the true men here, or is it another stereotype? Haha)

-How they say eating sugary and high carbohydrate food will kill you. (You eat anything in your life without balance can kill you. What I'm trying to say what we eat is all needed, just keep in balance, too much protein is not good for you and so little fat in your body bring danger to your organ from exterior impact.)

-How 'rempit' said to be selfish and very bad person. (Not all of them is that way, I got a friends of 'rempit', and they are better than any of those non-rempit people, but I still hate most rempit though. They very stereotypical.)

All that above is from TV, radio, magazine and in movies. I wanted to put this one movies as example where the stories go where one part, the FBI agent discovered where an American soldier that specialize in bomb suddenly convert to Muslim, the FBI started to show terror in their face. Damn if you guys see the movie, you would be piss off. Just because he is a Muslim, they suspect him as terrorist.

Because of this media stereotype, Korean Airport Security always aim on Arabs.

So what I'm trying to say is, there are definitely have media stereotype all over. You can see it everywhere if you keep your eye open.

Common yet difference between Blogger and journalists

(SYAFIZ AMIRUL BIN MUSLEH - 1091100342)

Bloggers and journalists really got something in common, expression feeling in words but the way of expressing in word is important, but although if they decide to make it as a daily dairy but it doesn't mean that blogger are able to point out someone name inside their blog to talk about them without they noticing it, unlike the journalist who undergo some procedure to publish their work of expressing their words

From my point of view
blogger are not actually journalist who their work must be filtered before it been release to the public, when blogger talk about someone, their should prepared that someone might sue you
